Ted Goes To La La Land
Ted wrote:
"Odd. I thought that you had done without arty support. Now you are claiming casualties from friendly fire. Perhaps I misread your post." This is copied from my post: "Our artillery FO’s RTO began to immediately call in artillery. I remember seeing him not far at all behind me on one knee as he adjusted the fire. The artillery guns were to our left and with the right hand spin of the projectile, he had to give it an “add 25” every fifth round or so. This was to move the impact 25 meters away from us as the rounds walked to the right as the tubes got hot. We took a number of friendly casualties from our own artillery." So much for Ted's reading comprehension. If he can't remember what he read a couple of hours ago, how can he remember what he read years ago? I will be nice to Alzheimer Ted. I'll send him a nice book with a box of crayons. Be sure to stay in the lines, Ted... |

Do any of the other cannon cockers and former FO's on this newsgroup find themselves ROTFLAMO at this fairy tale? Someone has been reading too many Sgt. Rock comic books. -- ---- Joe S. 2/13 FA Vietnam, 69-70 > > So much for Ted's reading comprehension. Right hand spin of the projo has nothing to do with it. Coriolis effect will cause either a right or left drift in the trajectory when fired north or south. A due east or west trajectory will cause no Coriolis drift. Angles of fire between those two extremes will vary in their Coriolis effect. Firing tables for all Field Artillery have correction tables for it. While not a cannon cocker, I do know that tubes droop from heat and cause subsequent rounds to walk toward the gun, not "to the right". -- Dave (The Other) |

I quoted it exactly. If the author is wrong then he is wrong, but why did it take y'all so long to figure out it is wrong? The only answer is that none of y'all knew until you looked it up in a manual. If I were an artilleryman and knew that the author was wrong, I would have spoken up immediately, but where were you and Ted? Probably sliding under his computer desk after drinking all day... |

Possibly some of the more normal among us do not spend our days glued to the computer monitor, waiting for you to post yet another egregious mistake. We know you will do it, as surely as night follows the day, so the element of suspense is missing. In the meanwhile we have other pursuits to occupy our time. There will always be a spare moment to amuse ourselves by exposing you to the truth, but there is no particular hurry. Taking out the trash has a higher priority. ted > |

Rock was captured, brainwashed, and made to fight against Easy Co.? http://www.slcollectibles.com/images...trock351sm.jpg How come they never made comic books about machinists? (Well, OK, "Out Our Way" by Neg Cochran did come close; however, they weren't combat machinists!) http://www.gographics.com/funnies/coming_and_going.htm Jones |

That doesn't explain why you took the time to reply to many of my posts which were all based on just that one. Of course that is exactly what I would expect of you... Even though I made the post, I was quoting from a Lieutenant Colonel (Ret.) What rank did you make, Major? |
