Any eBay users ? ...
Last week, in another large scale scam, a fake web site was created to
mimic eBay's site and emails were sent out that requested recipients to log on to the ebayupdates.com web site, based in Florida, where they should re-enter financial data, including credit card data, for eBay. This ruse was first reported by the non-profit SANS Institute Internet Strom Center, an Internet Watchdog. The fake site, though not affiliated with eBay Inc. in any way, was made to look official and donned eBay logos and colors. Internet service providers serving the site have been contacted and have taken the site off-line, however this does not guarantee the site from possibly appearing again in the future on another server. Emails aimed at tricking ebay users began appearing on Dec. 6th and begin with the following text: "Dear Ebay Member, We at Ebay are sorry to inform you that we are having problems with the billing information of our account. ..." |
