Got Busted Up

Brother in Law and I were involved in traffic accident today. We were on I-5 North here in the Sacramento area. A Big Rig changed lanes and slammed into rear drivers side of my brother in laws car. We got spun around and was being pushed down the expressway by the rig (Long Nose Pete). Don't know how far we were pushed I think at least 100feet. My broher in law cranked the wheel to the left in attempt to break away from the Pete. The drivers side of the car was ripped open, both tires flattened. We slid across two lanes and slammend into the cement center divider. Passenger side slammed into the divider. No Broken Bones, nor my brother in law either. My elbow slammed against the window frame, and hand hit the window. Got jarred real good. I called 911 and told them what had happened. CHP and a Paramedic unit arrived. My Elbow was hurting like mad, and I couldn't feel my 4th finger or pinky on my right hand. My ELbow was bleeding, so the Paramedic sat me down in his unit. Took my sweat shirt off, couldn't belive the amount of blood from just a small cut, the paramedica appled pressure stopped the bleeding and put a band aid on my elbow. He told me to expect some residual affects since I hit the bone where a nerve is. Sister in Law arrived and picked us up. THey took me to the VA clinic to the ER. ER DOC ordred X-rays of my back, hand, elbow, and neck. Told me to see my primary care doctor in a.m. . Said the radiolgist reports would be ready by then. ER DOC gave me some meds for the swelling on my right hand, and gave me some meds for back spasams if they should occurr. I know my neck hurts like hades. Took 500MG of actemophine for pain, and swelling. Sure hope I can sleep tonight.

Glad to hear that neither you nor your brother-in-law were too badly hurt. Did you get the number of the truck?

Very few auto's get into it with Peterbuilt Conventionals and are able to talk about it later that day. Someone was somewhat smiling on you two. We have pain control methods on the Mountain if your still in pain in April.

Sorry to hear about the crash but very glad you came through that well (although I expect you're still plenty sore). Recover quickly. It's a good idea to be heathy when you get to mtn.

Glad to hear you survived mostly intact. It could have been much worse from the description. Did the Trucker get cited?
