?Ah yes, cynical I be!? I did, however, enjoy your poem to me. I indulge my own insanity now and then as well, and although my following (talent-less) efforts are not pointed in any particular direction, I thought that I would display my complete lack of poetic talent! I mean, what the hell?!

"An Ode To Saddam"

They say that cancer's got the goon,
And he may be planted very soon,
In the desert he will rest,
A Smart Bomb laying upon his chest.

Then off to Hades he will go,
Tell me Saddam it just ain't so,
For Hell's not ready for you to stay,
And the Devil don't take oil as pay.

But not to worry and not to sweat,
You'll fast become old Satan's pet,
So hurry and die and quicken the pace,
Then bend over smartly at the waist.

Dear 'Old Scratch' has a place for you,
Right next to Stalin and Hitler too,
So hurry along and meet your doom,
May a camel dump upon your tomb.

Your wake would be a thing to view,
Twisted into the sand just like a screw,
But I hope they bury you deep in mud,
And up your butt they ram a scud!

A Soldiers Tear

A Veterans Day Tribute To All Veterans!

What price I paid to grow to man,
Now lay me buried beneath this land,
From babe to gone - before my time,
Cut down short - within my prime.

Upon yon beach - we all ran forth,
Into the fires - like a frightened moth,
Our hearts did pound - our minds went blank,
Was that rumble - a hostile tank?

Beyond the walls - our targets lie,
I feel a pain shoot through my thigh,
I know I'm hit - but I must press on,
Past the rocks - and barbed wire yon.

My time has come - at last I fear,
When roused anew by a muffled cheer,
So again I charge - thru smoke and char,
A ray of hope stabs from afar.

No longer can I move my legs,
My throat fills fast with bitter dregs,
I gaze about - but one last time,
Then close my eyes - to end this rhyme.

?FREEDOM SINGS?

Once wars were fought when honor ruled,
With flags and banners and cheers aloud,
When men were men and respect was true,
Both sides stood tall and all were proud.

War was never a children?s game,
Where some sought freedom and others fame,
The pain was real- as was the gore,
Shell and shot through bodies tore.

One victor emerged through smoke and fire,
While the dead and maimed were soon forgot,
Somethings were won but most was lost,
How soon we forget that awesome cost.

The mind of man so quickly wanes,
And his moral fiber quickly drains,
For fate produced no end of woe,
As forever emerges another foe.

A brand new bane has reared it?s head,
And many more men may soon be dead,
No honor here in horror?s lair,
This war of terror where nothing?s fair.

Terrorism may toll the death of man,
A scourge and blight upon this land,
It must be slaked- it must be quelled,
For amidst this carnage - Satan dwells.

But those who deal in human blood,
To raise a fervor into flood,
By these fools- no psalm is sung,
And into the fires- our futures slung.

Tis not religion- but rather rage,
That leads us toward our final stage,
As terror itself knows not a friend,
And Hell- not heaven is it?s trend.

Alas to learn- if far too late,
That naught but death be soon your fate,
But never reside in evil?s cave,
Our flag and honor will always wave...

Friend Wazza, how were these for cynicism. I have not, however, ever been cynical about a nicely aged, icy-cold mug of suds. Maybe someday, if drinking is allowed in whatever direction we may eventually travel, we can share that beer! [Along with Recon, I hope]

Your words are very poignant.

My thoughts on your cynicism have mellowed, I'd love to see you making an aceptance speech at the Oscars. I think you would lay them in the aisles. Done any acting?
