Default Boston Red Sox

I wonder how they will feel the first time there is a bench clearing fight because there newly acquired pitcher hits someone. Is one person really worth 102 million $ for a 5 year contract, He's playing a game. Boy did I choses the wrong profession.
Just one more reason I don't hardly watch millionaires play with a ball. Im Jealous

Exactly! Of course, I don't begrudge them for taking the money when its offered, but don't even try to tell me they deserve it for playing game on a part time basis.

Someone has to chough up that level of loot and it sure as heck doesn?t come from the gate receipts or out of the Sox milk of human kindness, neither. Except for US pro sports, nearly the exact programming we get on cable is available in many other countries at a fourth or less what we pay. In most of Asia, the equivalent of $10 a month gets it all, including HBO.

Then there is the accelerated cost of other goods and services that comes in via the sponsorship hook, etc., and everyone gets a big dose of the sports tariff in equal measure, sports fan or not.

Doesn't seem right or fair, but that is the way things are.

The sport has gotten way out of hand, you seldom see a player starting and finishing his career with the same team anymore. Where have you gone Joe Dimago, Mickey Mantle, Roger Maris, Ted WIllimas, Stan Musal, Warren Spahn, Hank Aaron, there just aren't players like this anymore who stayed with a team.

Sports today in the US has got way to money hungry, People are just nuts when it comes to "there team" You go to Chicago and try to buy a ticket to a Bears game, they will look at you like your nuts,'Sell my Bears ticket?'
I can't blame the players for taking the money, or even moving from team to team for a better deal, But I never seen a beer worth $10.00 either. If you want to watch a good baseball game go watch girls softball. You get a very good game and you get to watch girls, and a hotdog is not $5.00.

I think Ozzie Smith was the last Pro Ball Player to retire from the same team he started with.....I also think the average players aren't worth more then 80,000$ a year. If they manage to make the playoffs and post season give em' a bonus and they will appreciate it more.

Thumbs down Nobody is worth it!

My prediction: He's going to bomb! Then the Red Sox will look stupid.

Kieth
I think he can pitch the rock, but Theres about a million others out there that can throw that thing.

JD
$80,000 is a hell of a good living, I would say something more to $30,000. Then a Hotdog would be 50cents and a beer 50 cents and $3.00 to get in with Free parking.
