Wanted: Human Shields
Wanted: Human Shields
Back in January '03, you may remember a group of Western liberals who volunteered to go to Iraq as human shields in case the US enforced UN resolutions that Saddam violated. Key graf: "...they are willing to put themselves in the firing line should US and British forces bomb Iraq. They plan to identify potential bombing targets such as power stations and bridges and act as human shields to protect them." Well, I think I have just the job for these globe-travelers: Iraq Election Poll Worker. They are familiar with the terrain and people, they have a self-professed desire to help and they seem very articulate. However, their biggest asset is bravery. If they are willing to hunker down between Coalition Forces and a bridge, standing between a foreign terrorist and a polling precinct should be no big deal. Any takers? I always receive wonderfully supportive emails from folks but occasionally they need to be addressed here: Your photos and blogs are great (I had to include that - LF), but I'd love to see more photos of happy smiling soldiers and Iraqis to show to my liberal peers that insist our troops over there are "crying themselves to sleep at night". While I can assure you the men and women over here are not the type to "cry themselves to sleep at night," your point is well made. So here ya go: These guys broke down into tears nanoseconds after the lens clicked shut: Check back later for more pix! Gotta go! Posted by Lance Frizzell at January 20, 2005 01:57 PM

Good to see proud soldiers who believe in the buddies, their unit, and their country. Would like to see me pictures of these brave men and women who are in Iraq facing fear everyday, and doing their duty. God Bless them, and bring them home safe.
