Absolute Disgust!!

I started out this morning on a crusade! A crusade for all POWs, past, present and future!

I first sought to learn why many captured U.S. Military men brutalized by the enemy while held as prisoners of war, were not eligible for the Purple Heart! I learned that even those eventually beaten to death, or literally starved to death, in captivity, were not eligible for this award, even posthumously!

I made multiple calls to many in government in an attempt to garner an answer? A few were genuinely concerned and are seeking (they say) to pull out an answer for me. However, at least one California Congressman?s DC office became quite testy and attempted to point me in the direction of an employee, who in the past had referred to veterans seeking benefits, as ?people looking for something for nothing!??

Naturally, I refused to talk with this questionable individual, and was told, and I quote: ?Well, that?s just too (damned bad),? after which, I was all but hung up upon! I guess some in Congress just don?t pay their telephone bills!

I then attempted to call the ?White House Comment Line? and they in turn (in a snappy fashion too, I might add) also implied that I had been misdirected. ?I needed,? they said ?to call the Pentagon!"

Upon reaching the Pentagon number, I was deluged with punch this, call that, refer to this, try that, as well as numerous numbers that just rang and rang with no answer! And when I was gifted with a number to call that you could reach, it was often machine garbled, tossed out at you at you in a fashion that was not understandable, never repeated, and you were then cut off post-haste!

This little exercise in futility ate up half of my day, or so it seemed to me? ?I really don?t believe that there was one living soul in this facility, outside of those who work overtime to cut soldiers pay and benefits, and these people are often the only dedicated souls in attendence, I fear!"

In short, after hours of attempts, expense and frustration, I was forced to just hang up! The whole idea from the start, I suspect? Ah yes - ?CERTAIN ELEMENTS OF OUR GOVERNMENT IN ACTION!!?

I?ll bet that when some of these bureaucratic folks take a dump, they are eventually hauled away as basket cases, especially if there is more than one roll of toilet paper to choose from in the johns! With a monumental decision like that facing them, some of them probably suffer nervous breakdowns or strokes, and are placed on retirement or disability! The same service connected, I might add, that many of America?s finest sweat blood for years to try to attain, or die of old age or illness before any success!?! And even at this, far too many of these worthy souls (veterans), still don?t prevail!?

And is this not the same meager funds that some in government now, even as we speak, seek to hack to hell, in the unholy names of those same bureaucratic bonvivants, still trapped, or hiding out, in those posh little government outhouses?!

?Of course, some refer to these opulent outhouses as elected offices, or their free bureaucratic accommodations!!? (opinion)
"FREE HELL", they are paid for, over and over again, in blood, sweat and tears, "just not the bureaucratic variety!!"
