More Fires On The Horizon?
As the plot thickens and the noose tightens around the neck of Iraqi resistance, another potentially ominous specter is beginning to loom upon the horizon! Vast portions of the Middle East have long been hot beds of inter-tribal and inter-factional warfare! And for a race of people who worked the land and raised livestock for a living, these farm boys have a tendency to get a little hot (and bloody) under the collar!!
?Such has been the case for hundreds of years, and without a moderating factor at work, these hot heads will be at war through time infinitum, or until one completely wipes out the other!? The fire that threatens to erupt on this horizon, however, just might be one that was kept at bay by the presence of yet another malignancy, Saddam (Beast) Hussein? With him virtually out of the picture, however, other territorial factions are already beginning to eye each other with suspicion and avarice! Tensions between various Kurdish segments has always been a flash point, and neither of these two entities have any lost love for the Turks, and vice-versa! As a matter of fact, Turkey, a nation that refused our requests to let us station troops upon their soil, but was quite willing to allow us to gift them with quite a few billion$ of dollars in protection money, has sent a thousand or so troops (according to the media) into Northern Iraq to handle (they say) the mounting refugee problems. (Is that so?) ?And while the Turks and the Kurds, the latter of which has been talking about marshaling at least 30,000 troops, are jockeying for political position, our attentions are also focused upon North Korea and Iran, neither of whom, we can trust with even B.B Guns!? We (Coalition)) are, however, in a far better position than when we began this ?War Of Liberation? (Operation Iraqi Freedom)! But will all of this carnage really garner a genuine and long-lasting peace or even freedom? Or will the Iranians, who got their asses soundly whipped by the Iraqis, now seek to return the favor against a drastically weakened Iraq? Possibly, the Kurds, interested in a little payback, will rekindle they ambitions, if they can ever stop fighting amongst each other, that is?! And as for that ?Hungry Turkey Buzzard? that is roosting in a burned out and fruitless palm tree, just to the north of Iraq, it is also to be watched with a wary eye and a loaded M-16! (opinion) ?Will the elimination of the Iraqi threat really bring peace to this region, or will it merely shuffle a new deck?? I have a disturbing feeling that if we (USA) don?t keep these factions from each other?s jugulars, all Hell can (and will) break lose again in the not so distant future?! One can not, after all, place ?Several Old Pit Bulls? into but one arena and expect them to do anything but mangle the shit out of each other! Peace and harmony ain?t worked in the Middle East for thousands of years (literally), and it won?t work now unless we continue to act the part of a well-armed referee!! VERITAS
