Default Introductions

Well, this is my introductory thread. First of all, I want to say thank you for the warm welcome to patriotfiles. I served in the Navy from '68-'72. Started out at Great Lakes, then on to "RatCenter" Memphis for A-school. After A-school, I spent some time in VA-145 at Whidbey island, WA as an AT. After that, I volunteered for SAR training, and went to NAS Imperial Beach, CA, where I was a rescue swimmer, and eventually a NATOPS instructor in HC-1 Det 4. Spent about a year off the coast of Vietnam attached to the 'Big E', as it was called. Had the opportunity to pull out a few pilots, and unfortunately, there were a couple that I didn't get to in time. Lost 3 friends over there that I will always grieve for because they never got to live out their lives like I have. And even though I've been out of the service for over 30 years, I feel a bond talking to guys that I have never even met that is as strong or stronger than those I have with people I've known for years who didn't serve. I'm a FF/PM, and get the opportunity to meet (transport) more and more guys who have served their country. I feel such compassion for them, because they willingly gave for others. I'm very proud to be part of them. I do appreciate patriotfiles, and everyone I've met so far. Thanks again for the warm welcome home.

Welcome to our group! Some of us are not too dangerous, provided we adhere to our medication schedule and stay away from sharp, pointy objects! Welcome Home!
