Griz ,
You are one sick (ham) mother!!!!!! Even Charlie , when scrounging an NDP , wouldn't take the ham & mothers. 1CAVCCO15MED, The beer didn't get better. Black Label was all I remember except for that one time at the MP Club at Evans with Pabst Blue Ribbon.

Mermites are rather large reptiles that live only in Navada. They are well insulated and live in deep craters near water. They volunteered after Tet 68 to become cans for the Army to help support the war effort. Their story can be found at www.keepit cool/hot.com.

Good food in mermite cans ? What parallel universe were you in ?
LOL All we got was green-tinted "roast beef", potatoes made of saw dust, and other gross stuff...or was that just the 25th ID. But it was hot and you didn't have to use a P-38 on it. Of course our cook always managed to burn the coffee.... Larry

Is Carling Black Label still around? It was so bad we would add tomatoe juice ,tobasco sauce,or anything to it to try making it taste better-does anyone remember the huge fenced in beer field behind px at Camp Eagle?hundreds of cases of beer and 95% of it was Carling Black Label in those old rusting cans-everyonce in a while we were able to get Schlitz-it was one notch above Carling.

To all of you for the kind words about our convoy into Bastogne and trucker's in any war zone, Thank You!
The best part of all this is, after 35 years we found each other and plan to be together again this July at the Army Transportation Association Vietnam reunion in Colorado Springs. Welcome home to everyone, Wayne Chalker |

Wayne,
From one of the tag-a-longs on this site, let me say...Welcome Home. These are the best people to talk with and listen to. Their histories are so insightful. As I am sure yours are too. I look forward to reading your posts in the future. DL
