Default A Cry For Goodness

If I could bend to Love,
Though now uncertain of my fate,
Eternally cursing my freedom,
Would you afterward not veil me in dishonor?

To stand in the brightness
And give evidence of your loving
This veil keeps beyond my reach
A reverance bestowed upon another.

My soul stands longing
To merge with the one whose shadow,
The one whose every breath,
Keeps me entombed in disgrace.

I do not desire that I should continue
So hungry to be fed, by your grace;
Accepting another's cast off rinds
Given from your first fruits.

Say I again and again:
If I could bend to Love,
Eternally cursing my freedom,
Would you afterward not veil me in dishonor?

Jane Callanan

Default For Nicole

There was a child
Who strolled with me
Though long ago
In sun and light
?Till Seraphs came
To claim her hand
And change my day
Into my night.

While in the mirror
Oft I gaze
To see her face
Overlaid mine.
And on my knees
At night I hold
Her memory,
Her glint to shine.

And still I hear
(Within my soul)
The anguished weep
Of child alone.
The one who waits
And never grows
Until the day
I must go home.

Last night I saw upon the stair
A little man who wasn't there
He wasn't there again today
Oh how I wish he'd go away

Kindness is more important than wisdom, and the recognition of this is the beginning of wisdom.

The willow which bends to the tempest, often escapes better than the oak which resists it; and so in great calamities, it sometimes happens that light and frivolous spirits recover their elasticity and presence of mind sooner than those of a loftier character.

I love the man that can smile in trouble, that can gather strength from distress, and row brave by reflection. 'Tis the business of little minds to shrink but he whose heart is firm, and whose conscience approves his conduct, will pursue his principles unto death.

Mae West from Night After Night

Woman: Goodness, what beautiful diamonds

MW: Goodness had nothing to do with it, dearie.

Woman: "Do you believe in love at first sight?"

MW: "I don't know but it saves an awful lot of time. (Maudie Triplett)

Woman: "Chemistry's a wonderful thing."

MW: "I'll say it is, but I know a couple of druggists that never made a dime 'til Prohibition."
