"A recent study shows that most varcose veins below the knee are caused by folks sitting too long on the toilet seat. Sitting too long on the toilet seat cuts off the flow of blood to the legs, causing them to go "to sleep" building up of excessive blood in the feet and lower legs. The study showed that other than child bearing for women, sitting on the toilet seat too long is the main cause of varcose veins."
