How Senators Voted On Veterans Health Care Funding

Even though the majority of Senators voted in favor of an amendment to the National Defense Authorization Bill [S. 2400] that would guarantee full funding for veterans health care, the measure fell short of the 60 votes needed for adoption.

Senate Democratic leader Tom Daschle introduced the amendment at the urging of the DAV and the other organizations in the Partnership for Veterans Health Care Budget Reform. The amendment called for a combination of discretionary and mandatory funds to ensure the long-term viability of the VA health care system.

Is the failed Bill displayed meant to give free medical to all Veterans whomever Served? Or was this new failed Bill meant only to cover Veterans with Service Connected Disabilities, as such has always been? Think many Veterans would like to know.
