Default and another thing...

As far as Aussies and the US shooting at or running into each other, what the hell does that have to do with the crap Iran did or didn't pull recently?

It was the figment of Australian imagination... Maybe BATS eat, the holes in the ship and the dead one "LEST WE FORGET" must have been eaten by the BATS for snacks......

Thanks Gunner,

The 5/54 is what I referred to as the 5/56 (?). I assume that mount has some minimum range and associated down gun stops. Don't need to know numbers but assume they would be similar to the older twin 5/38 and then the manned predecessor to the 5/54. I hadn't seen a pic of the close-in gun but in general figured the Phalanx gun had probably been further developed to include additional applications, namely possible close-in surface defense capability. Something like a 20 mm chain gun with tracking fire control could certainly do the job, as in poof. Not much in terms of small craft is going to get past that one, assuming it has surface defense capability.

Thanks for the pics.

4500 rounds per minute can definitely ruin your day, especially with how accurate that thing is.
