Robert doesn't work on engines anymore. His kid (Doug Yates) and Jack Roush make engines for most of the Ford teams, Roush/Yates engines.
The real progress in the off season is when Robert got Nascar (Mike Helton) to allow the Fords the same size restrictor plate that the Chevy's use.
