Every small thing or utterance is taken to an extreme. In conversations if you don't agree, your a racist or a Nazi. I'm not inamered,(sic), with who I voted for in 2000 and 2004 but it doesn't make me want to change affiliations when I hear histrionic hate speech from the other side. Facts, without histrionics and over eggagerations will do more to get me to change then vitriolic hate. Some will take this as I'm just blaming one side. Not true. I'm sick of all of it from each side. There is so much blame to go around that nobody can "cast the first stone". There have been so many stones cast in the past 16 years that I do belive the stone has become an indangered species. Pighumper and I were talking today and we both just said is we want people in Washington that, for the first time since I can remember, care about all of us and work to remember why the f_ck they were sent to Washington in the first place instead of all the petty arguing and postering to just get votes. We are not optimistic. This crap is going to continue until this Country, the one that so many have died trying to perserve, collapses like a house of cards. I think it's time we all look at ourselves and say....how can WE do this without the HATE? I have been a major offender in hate speech. I used to get all upset and fire back with the most hateful things I could say as a way of getting back. It doesn't work. We all have to realize that our government was never set up to be all things to all people. We ALL have to believe in compromise and be rational. Not everybody is going to get what they want just because so and so is in power. I don't believe anyone has ever run for President of the United States so they could get in power and hurt us. It's bullshit. Democrats and Republicans have different ways of looking at things. I doesn't make one side Communists and the other Nazi's but that's what it's become in this country.....your one extreme or the other....period, and it just ain't true.

Ok, I've had my say and it still doesn't seem like I'm making the point that's banging around in my head. Just know that I will never reply to any post with hate speech be it about one side or the other. I find both sides to be filled with assholes and wish they would all just disappear and a whole new crop show up. Problem is....they'd probably be assholes too.

I know EXACTLY what you mean my dear Southern brother.

I'm doing my best to "tone down" some of the "message" that I am attempting to get across to hopefully get everyone to see the FACTS of the situation so we can at least come together.

I will admit that I occasionally let my feelings of utter disgust and disdain of the political powers in charge of this country the past decade or so come to the forefront of many of my arguements. However, it is NOT just because I "hate" all things "republican"----I have myself voted for many, many republicans in my lifetime. But until and when I see a definate "change" in the majority of the present mindset and performance of most of these individuals, I find it very difficult (if not impossible) to support OR believe ANYTHING they say.

Their actions speak much louder than their words.

This is NOT to say I'm overly prone to give my entire support to all the democrats either. So far, they appear to be much more inclined to support the things I believe this country should be doing for not ONLY our sick & disabled veterans, but the overall citizenry as well.

Time will tell.

There's been times in the past where I've been just as disgusted with them as I am currently with this "new" brand of republican politicians.

I just hope and pray we can all find a way to do what's BEST for everyone.

Thanks, Gimp

Thanks my brother.

I appreciate your comments about my "posts" being supported by "FACTS" rather than hyperbole or rhetoric. I do all I can to try and present the facts without trying to use charcter assasination and name calling whenever possible. I have been guilty of it on occasion, but usually only when another individual has chosen to utilize that type behavior towards me. I DO have a quick "temper" that I am constantly working on, sometimes it gets the best of me still to this day. But, I am trying.

Hopefully we'll all do better in the future.

Thanks again,

Excellent post Tom !!

Politics has always gotten people mad, and always will... But folks in this country are complacent, comfortable, and lazy. 50% + will not even register to vote. That is sickening and disturbing to me as a veteran. That is one problem, and another is for the folks that vote, to keep electing the "career-politicians > elected-for-life > what's-in-it-for-me > losers".......over and over again ( Example : Arlen Specter was on the Warren Commission coverup )...and lastly, our country has an unfunded liability ( this means money for Medicare, Social Security, pensions, and more ) that it has promised to pay us, its citizens, of between $ 60 - $80 TRILLION DOLLARS, not to mention a huge national debt and budget deficits each year, funded by U.S. treasury bills owned by foreign countries ( Communist China et al. )

These are the subjects that political activists need to focus on, and it doesn't have to be with foul or vulgar language, or this "US vs THEM" two-party mantra that obscures what is really going on.

I would very much welcome calm, reasoned political discourse here.

Larry

Severly beaten about the head and shoulders for being ignorant. Again the politicans send men and women into harms way and don't want to meet the commitment to these people.
