Default Wager?...

Regardless of the fact that there are hundreds of other heroes who have given full measure, Hollywood is already at the drawing board building a movie of Tillman's life.

And in the big picture of things, sometimes we need bigger-than-life heroes.

What say you?

May God bless him, his family and each and every one of our soldiers past and present. Rest in peace my friend, your duty is done.

Default PT

A whole lot mo better man than me.
I would have never given up a Million$ contract .
PT is two different people to me, he is what all guys (I think ) would like to be, On the other hand Im going to have to KInda agree with Reeb. He's just one of many after he was KIA, And in that sence he is no better or worse than any of the rest. The media is to stupid to understand this but we shouldn't be.
Ranger Tillman, Your in some very fine company.

I'm with Reeb on this one. Tillman made a choice, This is an all volunteer army these days. His death is a shame but so are all the other deaths in this war on terror. What about the soldiers who died fighting for this country who were not even citizens? What about your average soldier who enlisted to help make it through college? All the lives lost are a waste. They were too young to realize their potential. What he did was laudable but no more so than any person who voluntarily enlists.

While I agree with reeb and Chief about the all-volunteer force and the many guys who have given all, I think the reason Tillman is being mentioned so much in the press is because of the comparisons to other sports stars. Here's Tillman, giving up a multi-million $ contract to serve his country, meanwhile Ty Law of the Patriots gets pulled over while driving his Rolls Royce then tries to escape the officers on foot; Eli Manning pouts, pisses and moans that he doesn't want to play for the San Diego Chargers (poor baby); Mo Lewis was right in the middle of a murder investigation; Ray Carruth is now spending life in prison for the murder of his girlfriend and infant son; Koby Bryant is on trial for rape; steroid abuse is rampant in major league baseball; an NHL player, driving drunk, gets into a wreck that kills a teammate; and these are the guys most young people (and some older ones) call heroes! No way! The real heroes are guys like Tillman and your brothers, sisters, friends, buddies, etc. who put aside the relatively easy life in America to enlist and protect their country so those so-called sports "heroes" who are sometimes just highly paid thugs who can literally get away with murder.

Rest in peace, Pat Tillman. America is proud of you.

With all the hoopla about sports players being called heroes, idols, icons, and role models..when some are criminals...it took a lot of guts to do what he did..look at the stats on the number of nfl and nba players who served in the military during vietnam and how many died..not very many..

rest in peace brave warrior..

Thumbs down

This is my biggest nightmare. We did not die for nothing and it was not a waste. Nor is it today. Stand for something , even if for each other. Don't ever tell me we died for nothing. He was a hero as all people who put it on the line are heros. I don't care what the news says . @#@@%#
