![]() Instead of buying the bile of narrowmindedness, a quick visit to history might be in order. Recall, if you can, that the tax reduction enacted during the Kennedy administration resulted in a greater influx of federal revenue than before. The same wondrous event occurred during the Reagan administration; and we would have enjoyed a magnificient surplus had not the runaway spending of Congress consumed all of the additional revenue generated, and then some.
The so-called deficit reduction act signed into law by Clinton was forced on him by a conservative congress, as it certainly wasn't an original idea with him. At the time, our economy was floating along on the artficial bubble of the dot.com fantasy, and the largest tax increase in history that Clinton enacted was ameliorated by the increase in revenue caused by the economy, not by a tax increase. If tax increases boost or improve an economy, why don't we just increase taxes to 80%, and really enjoy a boom? Show me one government anywhere in time, history, or myth that taxed its way into prosperity. If prosperity flows up from the bottom, I'd like to see the names of Fortune 500 companies that were started by paupers. How many poor people ever offered a job to an unemployed ketchup maker? Now here's where the train really runs off the track: "Every single day, conservatives -- like all of the rest of us -- make use of technology created by or with the assistance of government. Their computers, TV sets, telephones all make use of microchips first developed by engineers working for government contractors. They make use of communication satellites, placed in orbit by government engineers and techniicians [sic]. They use materials and technology developed at public universities with government funding." Don't tell the folks at Texas Instruments about how the wonderful government developed the microchip. And goodness gracious, it must be that all wonderful inventions could never have occurred unless there was that government subsidy and contract stuff. What inane drivel! Are you really so eaten up with the government to believe that no progress, no inventive prowess, no advancement in science is ever accomplished without the ponderous hand of government being involved? And even if the government awarded some R&D contracts, guess where the money came from to pay for them? Can you spell taxes? So much for the revisionist history of the leftists!

![]() You're joking...............right?
You call THAT an "answer" to all the things I posted before??? Gime a BREAK! Ronald Reagan???? "Revisionist history"??? For Gods' sake man, where the hell were you in the 1980s...............playing "cowboy" down there in Rio Linda land? Either that, or you were auditioning for some of those parts in Rod Serlings "twilight zone" shows in person, huh?? Can you say, Iran -Contra, Corporate Mergers, Corporate Welfare, Savings & Loan Bailouts, PACs, National Debt Tripled, high unemployment , Arms For Hostages, Supply Side Economics , De-Regulation, Trickle Down Theory, reduced funding to military veteans, etc., etc. By the end of Ronald Reagan's term, 138 administration officials had been convicted, had been indicted, or had been the subject of official investigations for official misconduct and/or criminal violations. Even MORE than that other "criminal" Republican fellow, Richard Nixon and HIS administration! Remember Robert Nimmo, head of Veterans Administration, who had to resign when an investigation confirmed him guilty for improper use of government funds! Naw, I guess not, huh? Massive fraud and mismanagement in the Department of Housing and Urban Development throughout Reagan's eight years. These were finally documented in congressional hearings in spring 1989, after Reagan left office. Cost the taxpayers billions of dollars in losses. What made this scandal most shameful was that Reagans' friends and fixers profited at the expense of the poor, the very people HUD and the federal government were pledged to assist through low-income housing. -- Anne Gorscuh Burford resigned amid accusations she politically manipulated the Superfund money. Rita Lavelle was fired after accusing a senior EPA official of "systematically alienating the business community." She was later indicted, tried and convicted of lying to Congress and served three months of a six-month prison sentence. --The Pentagon procurement scandal, which resulted from the Republicans' enormous infusion of money too quickly into the Defense Department. And don't forget! The Reagan-Bush bunch armed and supported the Afghan Islamic fundamentalists in the 1980s'! The monster they created grew too big to control, and now the U.S. is bleeding our troops while trying to stop it. Now the U.S. is seen by people around the world as the "Evil Empire". Here's what President Ronald Reagan said, honoring Afghan "freedom fighters" at the White House in 1983: "The Afghan Mujaheddin are the moral equivalent of the Founding Fathers of America."------- These are the SAME guys that later became the Taliban ! --I have a HELL of a lot more, but my finger(s) are getting tired of trying to EDUCATE YOU! But, I'll leave you with THESE facts of historical accuracy. During the Revolutionary War, it was conservatives who were loyal to the king of England. During the Civil War, it was conservatives who defended slavery. When conservatives lost the slavery cause, they rallied behind segregation (many still do). It was conservatives who were the isolationists prior to World War II . Conservatives fought against efforts to control monopolies at the turn of the century and against the child labor laws of the period. Conservatives have either contested or watered down virtually every meaningful piece of ecological preservation legislation ever introduced. Without question ! Social Security, the minimum wage, women's rights, civil rights, regulation of banks, food & drug suppliers and manufacturers, electric power suppliers, and on, and on - all were opposed by the conservatives of the time. A LOT (like you) STILL DO! Not that conservatives are against everything. They never met a WAR they didn't like! But that's another story! Nice try.....................but your "answer" don't "cut the mustard"! ![]() ![]() Come back later and TRY AGAIN ---OKEY...DOKEY!!! ![]()

![]() When Kerry said that they attached wires from portable telephones to peoples genetals and "Turned the power up" I immediately thought "This guy doesn't know WTF he's talking about". The Field Telephone is powered by 4 - 1 1/2 volt batteries. Maximum power is 6 volts DC. What someone who "Knows" what they were talking about would have said is that "They cranked the telephone to shock the person" (field phones will give you quite a jolt from the magneto which is used to make the phones ring along the circuit but while the voltage is high, the amperage is low and does no damage) not "Turned the power up". I guess Lt. JG Kerry never saw or used a Field Telephone which is not surprising as he only spent 4 months in country on a boat.

![]() What the hell has that got to do with the "original" subject of this post?? :cd:
I'll tell YOU the same thing I told my friend GRIZ! I thought you were one of the folks that didn't LIKE to see the threads "subject" stray from the original posters subject matter? I guess since you couldn't possibly come up with any valid way to refute the "facts" I posted about "Bogus Conservative ideas" you could only start "bashing" Kerry again in a fit of unreasoned malaise or an exasperating obtuseness and lack of comprehension on your part. ![]() Right? :cd: Or................................is it just that you can't STAND to see the TRUTH put up for everyone to see???? :cd:
