I would like to see a human Chinees wave headed at this gun.
They wouldn't have a chance and all it would take is one guy.

Ron not trying to be mean, but what type of weapon is that, I have never seen this before is there more info some where on this gun.

A portable Puff the Magic Dragon. I wonder how the feed mechanism works? 1M per min seems a little much and the magazine holds how much? Make them remote set them on
a hill, booby trap them if they are over-run and set up another
set of these on another hill. Eventually they will whittle them
down or we run out of guns and shells.

I've seen this somewhere. Don't remember where or much about it (durn memory 'taint the same as it used to be). I do remember that it had some outrageous rpm. I think it was a developmental project, nowhere near release to the troops.

The 36-barrel prototype imaged by Ron above is one of numerous weapons being developed by Metal Storm Ltd. of, I believe, Australia.

This particular weapon uses what is called Electronically Initiated Stacked Projectile technology.

The ammunition is caseless and fired by electrical impulse. The rounds are stacked in the barrel one in front of the other and are fired by an electrical charge traveling through the barrel from front to rear.

The rate of fire can be varied by the number of barrels being fired at one time and can be from 6,000 rounds per minute up to 1,000,000 rounds per minute.

The weapon has nowhere near that CAPACITY of ammunition, but it can produce that rate of fire.

Metal Storm Ltd is also developing the computerized "smart" handguns and shoulder weapons which will fire only when in the possession of an authorized individual and no one else.

Also, handguns and rifles which can fire rounds that explode a selected exact distance from the barrel...you can, for instance, take out personnel hiding behind a wall by firing over the wall...the rounds exploding above their heads.

Also in development...a series of AREA DENIAL weapons.
For instance, a 40mm grenade launcher that fires 6,000 rounds per minute.
I guess "area denial" would be an appropriate description.
