HYPOCRISY, according to the ?Good Book of Words? is:
?The pretense of having feelings or characteristics one does not possess; especially, the deceitful assumption of praiseworthy qualities.
It is also accurate, although abbreviated in text, to say that a hypocrite is one whom, regardless of social station, rarely (if ever) practices what he (or she) preaches. And in my opinion, politics and (absolute) honesty are (often) oxymoronic to the core!!
Well blow me down, if Mr. Bush didn?t just go and restore a modicum of my faith in the career politico, or at least one in particular, on this peculiar occasion!
The President, leading by example, has limited pay raises to federal employees, that is of course, if some smart attorney (or group there-of) doesn?t find a way around this mandate. After all, I once thought that ?Posse Comitatus? was carved in stone too!? Within today?s government, however, the stone that some rights have been copied onto is pure talc!
Am I to assume (HOPE) that this freeze of paychecks will carry all the way, from top to bottom of the bureaucratic food chain? I was, however, immensely impressed with ?Numero Uno?s? (Bush) decision not to screw around with the meager paychecks of our gallant military. And I only hope that this move is infectious and permeates the clogged pores of the VA, an organization that claims to represent the best interest of America?s former warriors! But should this pose a problem, then might I respectfully suggest that any shortfall ($$) be made up by pulling needed funds away from Foreign Aid and United Nation?s tribute!!
