Putin doesn’t care how many soldiers die. That’s dangerous.
Putin doesn’t care how many soldiers die. That’s dangerous.
By: Gary Newman - The Washington Post news - 03-25-22 Re: https://www.washingtonpost.com/opini...ats-dangerous/ Andriy Yermak’s March 22 Tuesday Opinion essay on Ukraine’s battle against Russia and its president, Vladimir Putin, “The West is underestimating Russia’s brutality,” conjured thoughts of World War II and the siege of Stalingrad. History is always a good teacher, and the battle for Stalingrad (now Volgograd) has lessons for the West. The first is Mr. Putin’s strong similarities to Adolf Hitler and his strategy and actions. German field marshal Friedrich Paulus made clear to Hitler that his army was in an untenable position during the Russian winter. Hitler’s brutal command, a sign of a very desperate, paranoid leader, was for Paulus to fight to the last man. Hitler was willing to sacrifice almost a quarter of a million men for his own pride. Paulus eventually surrendered, and sadly, about 90 percent of his soldiers never returned to Germany. Russian leaders have always shown their indifference to the loss of life of their own soldiers. There were more than 1 million Russian casualties in the battle of Stalingrad, and Joseph Stalin was unfazed by these losses. Mr. Putin seems to have inherited that mentality, which reinforces Mr. Yermak’s point of view. Unless the West does something more than the status quo, Mr. Putin’s brutality will achieve the inevitable in the short run. He is more than willing to sacrifice both Ukrainians and his soldiers for his own ego. Thousands of innocents will die. Gary Newman, Washington ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Personal note: Putin is sycotic and neurotic. His old school demeanor and wartime past - is what he's living in. He's doesn't give a shit about his troops - nor how many will die because of him. His past was just as dirty as his habits are today. He doesn't care about his troops and those that are contrary to his actions - which are quickly eliminated. - Tyrants have one or more screws loose in their actions. People mean little to them - they dwell in their own self-glorification. Russia would do far better without him - they just don't know how - to get to him. - When he's gone Russia will be free of his terrany. They will have the freedoms he's denied for so many of them during his years in office. - The Olegard' s will cease milking the system - as they have been and will then have to work and improved those around them and in need. Hence - Greed and self-glorification will be no more. - Then we have China and North Korea to ponder about. Absolute ruler's are a thing of the past - or will be eventually - if not in our lifetime - but sooner than later - would help to quicken the issues today. - Yes we need a world order - but not by waring upon one-another - but by good leadership -and good will. You can't advance in life without freedoms. Tyrants thrive because they rule with an iron fist. Nations don't need those types running their countries. - Greed and power over other's - builds tyrants. Compassion by helping others - improves the world order - by balance and focus. - We can't always succeed by ourselves - but we can build better things when its a team effort. - We have NATO - it's sortof a Team. Though not always on the same page but far better - then the Supreme Leadership roles held by many 3rd world countries still in power today. - The slaughter of any nations people - only brings hatred and revenge. As we've seen in all our many wars & conflicts. This has to end all around the globe - if there is ever going to be Peace on Earth globbaly. -
