Nashville, Tennessee-- A Veterans Affairs worker was sentenced to more than three years in prison for taking kickbacks totalling more than $100,000 through the purchase of red tape.

Natalie coker, the former associate director of the VA's Consolidated Mazil Outpatient Pharmacy in Murfreesboro, was sentenced to 46 months in prison by US District Judge Robert Echols.

Coker and her boss, Joseph Haymond, were arrested in November after investigators uncovered a scheme to get kickbacks from a company that was selling the red tape, which is stamped with the word "Security" to defer tampering, to the VA at inflated prices.
