Found my picture in mortardude links post
Was looking thru the links in MORTARDUDE post and found my picture in 25th ID newspaper, September 14, 1970 page 3. Didn't know the guy was a news guy or I would have posed better. Our Bravo Company 1/27 was assigned to train Ruff Puffs. They were on an operation SW of Diau Tiang (sp) and were ambushed. They called for fire support and were blown away. I went in with elements of the 75th rangers to recover the bodies of two advisors with the ruff puffs and do a crater analysis to find out who and where the fire came from. The fuse (what I am trying to find in the bottom of the crater) was from a 4.2. The 4.2s from the 2/34 armor were firing for the ruff puffs. The FDC had mislabled two grid lines on their firing chart with the same number. When they ploted the mission they were off by 1,000 meters and droped 4 rounds right in the middle of the ruff puffs.
