BTW here in GA the terrorist that there bumper sticker back in 1861 referred to was actually more like 1864.To understand the action itself is a study of Sherman's force and movement, an anatomy of the march to sea must be made. Sherman once said in reference to southerners that they "Cannot be made to love us,[they] can be made to fear us and dread the passage of troops thru their country" with that said we now understand the system the marches policies were set to but the base of its march is not yet said for. The Beginning of the march truly begin in Chattanooga Tennessee in May of 1864 and ended at Durham North Carolina in April of 1865. Shermans Bummers looted,piliaged and burned most of North Georgia and there is folks here that still have family members they personally talked to that lived to tell the tales.
