Default MPC's

Military Payment Certificates were issued to us for spending money in VN. We could not have US Greenbacks, or we were not supposed to have US Greenbacks.
One day while at some base camp we were told to go to BN and turn in our MPCs for different MPC. Sence US personnel were the only ones that could turn in these MPC's the other than US personnel would be left holding a lot of worthless paper. I remember a lot of Vietnamese standing there holding out there GI MPC's for anyone to exchange for them, some guys made a 50 cents on the dollar trade , new for old. I didn't have any money (MPC's) so I didn't go, but I was wondering, just how often the US military changed these MPC's?
