KODIAK, Alaska - Coast Guard Lt. j.g. Brian Beach, assistant navigator aboard the Coast Guard Cutter SPAR, assists Gabriel Madriaga with a classroom painting Nov. 3, 2010, at North Star Elementary as part of the Partners In Education initiative.

Beach along with about 10 other SPAR crewmembers volunteer an hour of time montly in North Star Elementary to assist teachers with classroom assignments.
