Default Viet Vets

Would any of you know just how much $$$ you would have if you left the service in 1969, but was in the service from 1965 and putting back $25.00 a month then, and without touching it by now??

It just came across ,my mind sitting here watching JAG.

Would it be alot by now??

In a regular "passbook" savings account with compounded interest, it would amount to an excess of $10,000 ... I think. If you invested it wisely, it could be much more.

Default With most banks today.

You'd have nothing. They've been charging a $25.00 per month "Maintenance Fee" for the last few years and on top of that, if the account had no activity for 5 years or more, it would be seized by the state government as "Unclaimed". It's leagalized theft.

Col;

That is what I was told.

I just wanted to find out if any of the Vets really knew instead of going to a lawyer.

Now I just have to go one more step further. and will figure it out one of these days soon.

Thanks Col. Sir.

If the the bank turns your account over to the state because of inactivity it is still recoverable, with interest. Each state has an unclaimed property division and it is normally accessable on the internet. In fact it would behove everyone to check their state for any unclaimed property such as insurance, utility deposits, etc.. I checked California and found I had some life insurance money and also two of my children had money coming.

Two other excellent sites are:
http://www.unclaimed.org/mainframe.a...itorType=owner
https://www.missingmoney.com/Find/login.cfm

Minimal effort and maybe maximum rewards.
