COULD SOMEONE PLEASE EXPLAIN WHY WE ARE FIGHTING IN IRAQ?

Could someone please explain why we are fighting in Iraq?
The following list has been compiled that give some of the
possible reasons heard thusfar:

1) fighting terrorism
2) fighting for our country, flag and freedoms
3) insuring democracy for the Iraqi people
4) oil
5) a vindetta for Bush because Hussein attempted
to assissinate his father
6) money and armament company contracts
7) to give the military real-time experience
8) to afford the military with career advance opportunities
9) getting even for 9-11-01
10) fighting a "jihad" with Islamics
11) every president has to have a "good" war to get reelected
12) excuse to rebuild the military
13) getting even with Hussein for kicking Exxon,
British Petroleum and Dutch Shell oil companies
out of Iraq when Hussein nationalized Iraq'a oil
14) empire building
15) bolstering a sagging U. S. economy
16) disposing of a brutal dictator
17) violations of U. N. resolutions
18) weapons of mass destruction were threat to our national
security
19) want a democratic presence in the Middle East
20) to relieve the U. S. from total dependence on oil
from Saudi Arabia
21) don't know
22) don't care why
23) for Bush's reelection photo ops
24) all of the above
25) none of the above
