Question You heard it from me

We at the Boeing aircraft company will be going on Strike Friday morning at 12:01 AM. Our company wants us to give up more heath and other benifits again this contract. well last time was just after 9-11 and the airline industriy was hurting but since then Boeing has rebounded and has made record profits the past three years yet they offer us takeaways and hire a new CEO for 22 Million bucks. I advise if you own Boeing stock dump it before thursday because its going to Drop big time

What, if anything, is apt to happen with the current production of aircraft, and which aircraft will be involved...

I'm not real big on the "Union Movement", myself... but I really do NOT like it when corporations attempt to sustain their profit (and perk) margins on the backs of those who manually and intellectually produce the actual product.

Blue the aircraft involed will be F-22's 737,747,767,777, and the new 787 it looks like a long strike looming but it has to be done. Remember we didn't ask for 1 cent in pay raise's we just want our medical and retirments better and thats not alot to ask

Been around Unions all my career and have no strong feelings one way or another, they are just part of the environment and some are really good and add value and some not so good, depends on Union, area and tradition I think. Lester, Pa, was once the home of the Westinghouse Steam Turbine Division and all that became so acrimonious that Westinghouse shut down and moved the remnants to Florida. Since then, Westinghouse was bought out by Siemans and almost nothing remains in the US.
Hopefully, Boeing Execs will stay at the table and see what can be done, if not, then a crippling strike will happen. Boeing has a real tough time competing with the subsidized European aircraft manufacturers as it is, so maybe there is a shaking out period at hand. Plus the European manufactures have no health costs or retirement costs to cover but have the tax man with hands deep in all pockets, but then that money comes back in the form of subsidies so there is not a very level playing field at present.

Hopefully it will all work out to everyone?s satisfaction and a long crippling strike will be avoided. Good luck Chris, hang in there.

Hang tough there Chris. Not to up-to-date on unions or there goings on, but it sounds like you have a good case here.

I was right We go on strike at 12:01 A.M. september 2nd Now we have to wait and see whats next but I don't see any bargaining until early next week. P.S. two senior managers were awarded stock options today worth over 2 million dollars go figure. Someone in senior management under estimated us is what I think. the average age of a Boeing worker is 49 with 20 plus years of seniority They just can't see why Guarenteed Retirement is important to us. Can you say Enron, United Airlines

Well I was wrong by a week . I said the strike would last 5 weeks but we vote on the new contract this thursday after only 4 weeks. the new contract is just what I said we wanted no take aways. but no pay raises either our retirement went up 10 bucks from 60 dollars per year of service to 70 dollars per. plus we get a 8% signing bonus the first year and 3% the last two years of the contract. the whole thing sucks the real reason for the srike is and was the sub contractors were way behind delivering airplane parts now they are caught up. Plus Boeing didn't have to pay any wages for a month so guess who really won. I can't wait to tell them to kiss my rosie red ass in January when I retire.

I'd tell 'em the same for you, if the chance presented itself.

I'm glad you survived it.
