With some in power intent on supporting half the world in an effort to buy their loyalties (North Korea waiting its turn in line), the schools of our nation are quickly going to Hell!

The whole planet has the idea that ?ALL? of our nation?s people are floating in dough ($$)!! They think that we all drive new luxury limos, we all feast upon steak and lobster, and that we all live in mansions in the seven-figure range! And woe be to he who attempts to set this erroneous picture straight, for he (or she) shall suffer the ire of those in power who work overtime to perpetuate this international con-job!!

In reality, however, many of our schools are a shambles! Services are being dropped, school lunches for the poor are being hacked to death, and the quality of some educational facilities is a miserable G-Damned shame!

Ya know, I once witnessed a park not too far removed from the White House where whole families were camped out in the frigid cold, hungry and wreaking of despair! Not far down the road, however, a State function (dinner) was being held at the ?Casa Blanco!? (NO HUNGER THERE I SUSPECT!?)

All across this nation of ours, good people are on the brink of oblivion, yet to listen to the media and a few politicos, everyone (veterans included) are sitting down to heaping plates of cream and honey, and washing it down with imported cognac!

But hey, our brothers and sisters are not alone in this disproportionate sacrifice! Even in Washington D.C., right in plain sight of some who can not even spell the words hunger or poverty, is some of the worse violence and want to be had anywhere in the ?States?, the DC educational system too, is an abject mess!!

The Mayor of DC has even begged the feds (and others) to assist the school system to the tune of $25,000,000 to revamp our nation?s capitol schools! After all, what kind of message does this send to those foreign bonvivants who drop into the White House for lunch? A message that will be carried back across the ?Big Pond? into that European, African, and Asian La-La Land? ?Poverty, after all, does not exist here!??

?Ah yes, the two faces of Washington!!?

But then, as I stare upon the monitor of my son?s old computer, right next to it sits a wee little statuette that depicts the ?Three Proverbial Monkeys - See No Evil, Say No Evil, Hear No Evil!? On the bottom of this trinket is imprinted, not ?Made In Taiwan or Hong Kong?, but rather - ?Made in Washington DC? as a tribute to America?s Valiant People no doubt?!!!

Ya, know, some people can not see their own noses right in front of their corpulent little faces!! Nor can they smell their pomous asses, as they usually have their noses firmly implaneted up the backsides of the internationally rich and famous (opinion)

Want to have the best schools in The Nation like New Jersey has ( just jokin),...then California should merely change to having absurdly high and CRIMINALLY HIGH PROPERTY TAXES (30 years ago decreed unconstitutional), just like: "STILL Colonial New Jersey"(article title) presently has. That's MAINLY how New Jersey's Public School System is paid for, year after year after year.

Granted Buddy, and just like here in NJ, a similar rip-off will only make the politicos and teachers content. But,...so what? Hey,...you can't please everybody. And besides, The Betters of society should do better. Don't you think? Also, such is MAINLY : "For The Children" anyway. Believe that, and I'll throw-in The Brooklyn Bridge,...while I'm selling you DisneyLand.

Regardless HC, don't feel too bad, since Jerseyans don't come-off too bright or very gutsy in general either. Hey, if over 30 years of being royally-screwed hasn't caused an outrage or calling for hangings by all Renters and Homeowners and/or We The Screwees here in New Jersey,...there must be a national whimpishness or general coweringness towards lordliness? Whatever,...it sure seems so.

I feel that folks are starting to wonder about all the millions that are going to "other" countries---our state (Arkansas) has an educational identity crisis. The system is in a shambles---Thanks Bill and Hilary for your devotion and work on behalf of the public school of Arkansas, which are some of the worst in the nation AND, which are under court order to consolidate to enable a solution to their lackluster performance.

I don't know about you folks---but I'm fed up to here (my eyeballs) with our tax money being doled out to every bumfukk nation who holds its hand out.
I didn't sign on for the long haul in Iraq either---I'm not saying cut and run--that would make our "blood" sacrifice seem in vain. But, let's get Iraq to pull its own freakin' wagon soon.

We've got to be doing something right - they are not all just coming here for Cheese-Burgers. We've got some damn good schools in this country and only those with money get to attend them.

I still feel that this country should have public college offered and funded by the states. At least two years at little to no cost and then based on your grades the next two years is what you will have to pay to stay in school.

Simply pouring more $$ into government-run schools will not solve the problem. If you have any doubts about the validity of this statement, simply visit our nation's capital city, and see the results of the highest per student spending in the US. But before going, you may want to seek an armored escort.

Now, examine the results of many national spelling bees, geographics bees, and other events that pit home or privately schooled students Vs. government-schooled students. The results speak for themselves.

Government-run schools are awash in money, but are spending it all on the wrong things. Go examine a "wiring chart" of a public school, and see how many administrators there are, so many that they're stepping all over each other in desparate atttempts to look busy.

Boats: I have a better suggestion: rather than free college, let's require a period of national service first, then little Johnnie gest his two years. Whudjathink?

Boats; I agree we should have a public college system where every HS grad can attend for an Associate Degree. Then pay their own way for a Bachelors . Now a days it takes more then a HS Diploma to get a good job other then at Micky-Dees!
