A Winner By Protest?

There are probably several reasons why (ex) President Jimmy Carter should receive a ?Nobel Prize?, but to award it only as a protest - sure as hell ain?t one of them!

Our 39th President was dumbfounded when he was notified that he had been gifted with this prestigious award. As a matter of fact, he joined some pretty elite company as a recipient. Company that includes the likes of Mother Teresa, Martin Luther King, Madam Curie, Rudyard Kipling, and Pearl S. Buck!

Although the Medal, and accompanying cash prizes, are awarded in both Sweden and Norway, the man himself (Alfred Nobel), was born in Stockholm, Sweden. And for the record, this man?s vast fortune was used to reward peaceful endeavors, even though he himself, was the inventor of ?Dynamite!?

Carter, a mild mannered gentleman in his own right, is famous for attempting to find peaceful solutions to potentially explosive world problems! And of course, let us never forget his brother Billy, a man that even had a pretty fair beer named after him (Billy Beer)!

Jimmy Carter, who in later years was very active in ?Habitat For America?, also brokered the ?Israeli/Egyptian Peace Deal? and this in itself, was no small accomplishment. Some, however, tend to only remember Carter for the failed rescue attempt in Iran many years ago!?

Well, this is all well and good, but a ?Smart-Ass Remark? made by the ?Churlish Chairman of the Nobel Prize Committee? was totally out of line! It seems that this ?Nobel Chairman? claims that the award to Carter was also meant to be a ?Stab At President Bush? for his pending actions and stance against Hussein and Iraq!?

Bush, however (or so it was reported) turned the tables on this ?Crass Nobelian Nincompoop? (Chairman of the Nobel Prize Committee) by publicly applauding the award to Carter (Democrat), and adding that this honor was long overdue! ?Now that is real class!!?

President Bush has apparently proved for now, that it is the man that makes the Party, and not necessarily the political party that is the measure of a man! Or could it be that both Carter and Bush both realize that: even though they may wear different political tags, when you strip away the partisanship, they are after all - ?BOTH PROUD AMERICANS!!?
