Statement by Secretary Johnson on TSA and Thanksgiving Week

I commend our TSA employees for their hard work over the busy Thanksgiving week, Monday, November 21 through Monday, November 28.* Thanksgiving week is the busiest air travel week of the entire year.* This past Sunday is typically the busiest travel day of the entire year.* In all last week, 16.5 million travelers passed through U.S. airport security, 4.9% more than last year.

Despite the large volume of holiday travelers, our TSOs kept things on track. In fact, 99% of air travelers last week waited in security lines for less than 30 minutes, and 95% waited less than 15 minutes.* In TSA Pre?® lanes, 97% passengers waited less than 5 minutes.*

This Holiday season, please thank the men and women of TSA who work hard to keep YOU safe during air travel.
