USS Peleliu Commanding Officer Relieved



The commanding officer of the San Diego-based amphibious assault ship USS Peleliu (LHA 5), Capt. David A. Schnell, was relieved of command Aug. 15 by Commander, U.S. Naval Forces Central Command, U.S. Navy 5th Fleet, Vice Adm. Mark I. Fox, due to "loss of confidence" in his ability to command.
