Ron...standard practice up here....you hit a deer and it does $5000 damage to your vehicle, the local DNR gives the cops deertags so you can get it processed without being hauled in for poaching! Damn friendly of them I think!

In this state deer hit on the highway belong to the person who hit it, or-if they don't want it-whoever wants it. The only legal requirement is that Wildlife Resourses or a law enforcement agency must be called and notified within 24 hrs.

Here in Minn. if you hit a deer, just go to a lawenforcement center, where you live an pick up a Road Kill Deer Possession Permit, one copy stays with deer, an one stays with locker plant, if you use one.

CWD is a very big and hot topic around these parts. Have heard all the arguments both ways. Really not sure what to believe anymore. was not aware that it had spread that far East, but I guess it will go everywhere sooner or later.

As far as I know, it has not spread to PA. But I see most of the respondants to this thread are from or near the affected area.
Just a heads up.

Most of the CWD cases where in small area in southern Wisconsin, they pretty much wiped it out with a big deer kill orginized by the DNR a couple of years ago. They still do random testing for it around here but I can't recall of any cases being found.
