Don't have a lot of information about your particulars, but one thing that comes up over and over and over again is making 100% certain that you have in hand, your own hands, every single piece of document and paperwork having anything whatsoever to do with your military service - including dumb stuff like TDY orders and what all - before it suddenly becomes REAL hard to get ahold of.
You probably do have that stuff, but I cannot tell you how many times those papers have meant the difference from everything I've seen reports of in recent years. Best current example is that many an AO troop could have gotten or had better results on their cases if only they had kept thus and so...
