April, 1966, Blue Ridge Summit, Pennsylvania, one of Nora Hoffmeisters houses, the house that Joanne and I first called home. Sp4 Boyd Barner who was also based at Fort Ritchey with me. Boyd never once while based in the Pennsylvania mountains bought a single ounce of meat from any store including the PX but he always drove a clunker that he got his tenderized meat with. He even butchered it himself out behind the house and couldn't possibly eat all that he had so he shared it with his neighbors and his CO.
That's when I got to LOVE venison. Boyd was a great neighbor.
