I have been told that the VA here in Las Vegas is so underhanded and crooked that they have their own way of making it LOOK like they are giving 100% SC vets appointments within 30 days. This is what they do (I was told this by a clinic employee who schedules these appointments).
When a 100% SC vet calls and tries to schedule an appointment to be seen, the clerk will schedule the appointment and purposely *overbook* the clinic. Afterwards, the clinic will either call the veteran or send a letter (short notice, either way) and cancel the appointment. They veteran may or may not be contacted to reschedule the appointment, but if it is rescheduled, it will be scheduled for weeks or months down the road. This way, the VA can show, at least on paper, that the veteran was scheduled for an appointment within the 30 day time limit. Nothing is said, however, that the appointment was CANCELLED and may or may not have been rescheduled for weeks or months later.
You see, in the VA, it is all about *perceptions*.....or what it looks like on the surface. It is irrelevant what the situation actually is....only what it appears to be. Meanwhile, all the politicians are patting themselves on the back, telling themselves and others what a "good job they are doing for us vets".
