I'd rather have a bucket of warm spit.
Neil,
Social Security could go away tomorrow never to be seen again and there would be nothing any of us could do. They could say, "well, tough beans, all the money is gone", and that would be it. Instead of allowing us to decide if we want it or not, (most politicians think I'm too dumb to manage my own money), we are forced at gun point, just like income taxes, to pay up. You can't believe they would take it away from disabled vets.....sorry but you need to wake up and smell the coffee. They can take it away from anyone they want. Once it goes to Washington, it's "their" money. It's too late for me, but I think my nieces and nephews should have a choice and that's what the Republicans said they would do. They didn't do shit about it. I doubt my nieces and nephews will see a cent of SS until they are at least 72. To "save" SS, they will just keep raising the retirement age, and tax more. If they weren't considering taking away from disabled vets, "double dipping", they would not have formed a commission to look into it. It wasn't the Democrats that did that. Social Security money is pouring into India, Mexico, and other countries because people come here, work 40 quarters, then leave and live like kings elsewhere. Like illegal's, which Bush wants to be able to be eligable for SS, not a damn things being done about this stuff and America just cannot afford it.
More buckets of warm spit in Washington then good honorable people.
