This tornado (F-5) is one instance in which the footage/photos on TV say almost nothing about the degree or extent of destruction - it just goes on and on and on in all the cardinal points.

My family settled in Joplin and this immediate region starting prior to the War of Rebellion, so it cuts very deep to witness this.

As you can see, it was so powerful as to strip bark from century-old trees.

In the path 6 miles long by 1/2-1 mile wide, nothing is left standing.
