Top senators say U.S. military plans in Japan unworkable, unaffordable

The planned reorganization of American forces in east Asia, including on Okinawa, is unworkable and unaffordable, three influential U.S. senators said Wednesday. They suggested moving Marine assets to Kadena Air Base, shifting Air Force assets from Kadena to Guam, and halting plans to realign U.S. forces in South Korea.
