Roadwork near RAF Mildenhall to begin

Roadwork is scheduled to be completed on the sidewalk adjacent to the roundabout on the A1101 just outside Gate 1 (the gate near the Bird in Hand Pub) from July 18 to 22.

The road will be reduced to one lane of traffic, which will be controlled by traffic lights.

Personnel exiting RAF Mildenhall during peak hours, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., should utilize the appropriate gate to alleviate congestion on the installation.

The following gates are recommended:
- Gate 11 (West Row Gate): For members residing in West Row or working on the south side of the base.
- Gate 16 (St. John's Gate): Southbound traffic on the A1101 to Beck Row, Mildenhall, and Lakenheath.
- Gate 1 (Bird and Hand Pub): Northbound traffic on the A1101 to Tolley Cobold and Beck Row.
- Gate 20 (Child Development Center Gate): Northbound traffic heading to Shippea Hill, Littleport and Ely.
