Gun Thread
Is there a thread for surplus military gun owners out there? If not is there any way we can have one started?
I just got a Turkish Mauser and am very satisfied with mu purchase. I could cover 5 shots at 100yds with a 50 cent piece. I'm hooked on mausers now. |
There is a military weapons thread.
If you post under it with questions on your mauser I am sure you will get all the answers you can handle. There are quite a few gun knowledgeable people on the site.

Yep. Good rifle.
Been known to fiddle around with exmilitary rifles myself. I've taken deer and other game with '95 and '98 Mausers, '03 Springfields,an Enfield, a Kraig-Jorgensen, and an M1A. |

You show me yours and Ill show you mine
Yours is good looking alright, Mine was a rescue job. Its a 6.5X55 Swede. Barrel trimmed to 19 in with a viaz flash suppressor, bolt heated and bent and machined, all sights removes and safety replaced. Stock is Cherry stained and soaked in 50/50 mineral spirits and marine polyurethane for a week and dried for a couple of weeks then finished. Top of receiver was machined to accept scope mounts then all metal was hot blued. Shoots sub MOA at 100 yards with my 140 gr SGK hand loads. Short of my .308 I consider the 6.5 the best whitetail caliber there is.
Mounted with a Nikon 4X fixed power scope |
Nifty rifle, Sid.
Got me a digital camera for Christmas. Can somebody tell me how to add pics. so I can play show&tell too? |
Hal,
Here's how to do it. First, ya gotta know where the pic that you wanna post is in your computer...which drive and folder it's in. Then simply open a REPLY in this thread. Type in your message that you want to go with the pic. In the "Attach file" row (below where you're typing) click on "Browse". This will open a "Choose file" window which is basically the layout of your computer. In the window, where it says "Look in:" pull down that menu and click on the correct drive that the pic is in. That will open a listing of folders in that drive. Click on the folder that the pic is in and you'll see a list of items in that folder by filename. one of which will be your pic. Click on it to highlight it and go to the lower right corner of the window and click on "Open". The "Choose file" window will disappear and the filename of the pic will appear in the bloc next to the "Browse" button. Then just click on "Submit reply" just like you would if you were posting a reply. That should do it. |
