Wife is arrested in death of Marine

CAMP PENDLETON ? A 36-year-old Marine was killed Sunday morning in a suspected domestic dispute in a base housing area, Marine officials said yesterday.

Staff Sgt. William F. Medley Jr. was pronounced dead just before 2 a.m. Sunday at Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton. The cause of death had not been determined yesterday, base officials said.

Medley's wife was arrested in connection with the death, authorities said. The woman, whose name was not released, was being held in a San Diego federal jail.

Medley, a Florida native, had returned from the Iraq war in July. He was an electrical-equipment repair specialist for the 9th Communication Battalion.

The Naval Criminal Investigative Service is investigating.
