Obtaining morning reports as PTSD documentation ???
Has anyone ever done this ? I would like to obtain the complete set of morning reports for the 3/22 and 2/22(M) 25TH ID for the period 21 NOV 1969 to 01 DEC 1970. How do I do this ? Thru Carlisle Barracks ?? Any help is appreciated.
Larry P.S. : Are there any other records you can obtain from the US Army that you can use for PTSD documentation ??? Thanks !!!! LEN |

My freind Wayne could tell you exactly how to get morning reports. He has done that several times lately for our unit. If he doesn't come on the site soon and notice your post, I'll email him.

I know from previous guys doing it that they are in Bethesda, Md. I think they went there and looked them up themselves. It took a while and it cost some for copies. Another thing used is eyewitness accounts from buddies. If you are in contact with any that may help. The VA likes dates. I found all of mine from a book written about the 1st Cav that included the time I was in it. CIB, CMB, or Purple Heart cause the VA to automatically assume PTSD stressors. If you have to write a stressor letter, keep it brief: name dates, names and locations. Half a page is good.

( may be online as well ) what about FOIA requests for your FBI file etc. ?? any other Official Army documents tha would list dates, names, and times.. ?? Is there any place in easy driving distance from me where i can get this stuff in person ?? where are the roster records ??? thanx larry |
Larry,
National Personnel Records Center (Military Personnel Records) 9700 Page Ave. St. Louis, Mo 63132-5100 The above is where I obtained morning reports for my company. I think you can go on line and either down load the application or submit it electronicly for the specific morning reports you want. There is a charge for this service ranging usually between $20-$40. Other historical records for Vietnam era units and headquarters commands are archived at: National Archives at College Park ATTN: Textual Reference Branch 8601 Adelphi Road College Park, Maryland 20740-6001 I think your requests, other than for morning reports which you request through the first address, can be electronicly transmitted to the National Archives. The best thing is to go on line for both agencies and see what options are available to you. I hope this was of some help to you. WC |
