Hernia operation

Yesterday 12-04-08 I spent 4 hours in the hospital for a hernia operation. I am home now with a glass of Capt. Morgan. F-um. They can't take me out that easy. Seems that I can lift 750lb leg press , but when I do I get a bulge. Damm.
Oh well. I guess I'm getting old.

I sit and watch TV and have a beer now. and a pain pill. I used to be able to just pick up whatever was down there to pick up. I still can, but now I get hurt when I do it. I have to change my mindset. Just because I can pick up that small block Chevy engine doesn't mean I should pick it up. I picked up this roll of flooring that two guys couldn't pick up at work. Basically, I was showing off, dumb, dumb. It was a leg press and the thing weighed 750 lbs.
I'll pay for that for a week or so. I'm not 30 any more.
Live and learn, I guess.
Thanks for the concern

Ron

Things break a whole lot easier now. Take it easy for a while. Get well.

Ron,
I'd say you're getting wiser, by learning that two young guys should do the heavy lifting while you do the supervising! Heal, dangnabbit!!:D

do not push it

I had a hernia operation and did not let it heal completely before I started lifting again. I did not think that I was over-doing. Guess what, the docs know what they are talking about when they tell you to take it easy.

Relax, enjoy the down time and heal.

Good luck, Pete

I went to the track this morning and only made it 1/2 mile. Bouncing up and down on a new cut, ahh, hurts.
Yes Dr.s know best, and I will lay around, God I'm board and it's only been 2 days.

Sounds like what a former co-worker did the day after his vasectomy. The doc told him to take it easy for several days while everything heals. Instead he went jogging. After about a half mile he started to feel uncomfortable and walked home. When he went to take a shower he saw that his scrotum had turned black. His wife drove him to the hospital and he found out he tore everything loose and the procedure had to be redone. Listen to your doctor; at least the one who doesn't smoke.
