Mexico wants to sue U.S. gun makers

http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-31727_16...-10391695.html

CBS News has learned that the Mexican Government has retained an American law firm to explore filing civil charges against U.S. gun manufacturers and distributors over the flood of guns crossing the border into Mexico.

Sources say Mexico's frustration with U.S. efforts to stop the flow of weapons has pushed them into this novel approach. The law firm is looking at charges that may include civil RICO. The contract was signed on November 2, 2010 by a representative of Mexico's Attorney General, at their Washington embassy.

On November 5, 2010 President Felipe Calderon expressed his frustration to CBS News correspondent Peter Greenberg: "We seized more than 90,000 weapons...I am talking like 50,000 assault weapons, AR-15 machine guns, more than 8,000 grenades and almost 10 million bullets. Amazing figures and according to all those cases, the ones we are able to track, most of these are American weapons."

According to sources, investigators will obtain makes and serial numbers of guns seized by Mexican authorities and trace them to their U.S. distributors and manufacturers.

Christopher Renzulli of New York, who has represented U.S. gun makers for fifteen years, says he believes this would be a difficult case for the Mexican government to win. "The Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act would bar that kind of lawsuit from the start. The law, passed in 2005 has resulted in several lawsuits against gun makers being dismissed.

But sources familiar with the case say the law firm retained by Mexico - New York based Reid Collins & Tsai - believes the federal law won't stand in the way of their case.

According to the Mexican government database, there were 15,273 drug-related killings in 2010.Overall, a total of 34,612 people have died in drug-related killings in the four years since Mexican President Felipe Calderon declared a stepped-up offensive against drug cartels.

Richard Feldman, President of the Independent Firearms Association and former gun industry association executive said: "Maybe we should be suing the Mexican government for their failure to prevent drugs from coming into our country."

Let's see, the Mexican government from local up to federal, is so corrupt that they've totally lost control so they sue US gunmakers. Yeah, makes sense to me....NOT!

Since Mexican Government will LIKELY SUCCEED (PC U.S. Ruling Elite WILL NEVER OFFEND Mexicans & foreign nationals),...does that mean that Mexicans will also be able to sue European, Czech & Chinese: "Gun manufacturers and distributors" of AK-47s being shipped to Mexico, ALSO?

Seems: "FAIR" to me. ;);)

While at it, can We then sue Mexican Government for the multitude of Drugs, Criminals & Terrorists daily being stealthily led through Mexico (even with instruction manuals) into The United States, ALSO?

Wouldn't that also be: "FAIR"?

I wonder if the Chinese can send us an instruction manual on how to build a great wall. It worked for them for hundreds of years.

Doc,...

"Great Wall" here will never happen,...and with an instruction manual or not.

If honest, BOTH Dem & Republican Rulers wouldn't even want a barbed wire fence on The U.S./Mexico border harming new voters. Any hindrance to BOTH Parties daily getting as many new Foreign National Voters (money also) as possible, is out of the question.

Democrats figure will get Many foreign national votes by encouraging Illegals to come to USA.

Republicans assume that caving into: "Amnesty" for Criminally Illegal Aliens will get them Many ILLEGAL Votes too.

The bottom line is that America will never have a safe & secure Southern Border, since neither party wants or will ever want to give up So Many ILLEGAL (both ways) Votes.

If such were not always quite purposefully so,...America would have had a Secure Southern Border 40-50 years or about a-half-century-ago. Instead,...that border has gotten progressively worse, year after year,

Hey. Mass Voter Fraud & Great Voting System Corruption didn't just start yesterday, Folks.

Maybe some day our politicos will actually start using common sense and logic instead of constantly trying to get re-elected....Nah! We'll never see it.

Of course: "Nah!",...Doc.

As long as: "We The (Schnook$)" are considered nothing better than just a Great Big Piggybank by many Ruling Elite Self/Clique-Serving (Dems mostly) Politicians, and foreign nationals (here legally or not) and minorities are constantly & corruptly pandered to for their votes,..."Common sense and logic" governing will never return to America.

America's Progressive, Marxist or Communist: "Democrat/Socialist/Leftist Political Supremacist Ruling Elite posing as Liberals",...JUST WON'T LET IT HAPPEN. Sad, but true.

Given SO-DAMN-MANY obvious Marxist Ideologues here deeply intrenched so well in Highest of U.S. Positions,...Iran, Syria & Libya currently stand a much better chance of changing to a Freedom & Liberty form of governance. Naturally only if Muslim Brotherhood permits.

Whatever, in Iran, Syria & Libya only a comparative few dictatorial lords & masters need be removed. There's just TOO-DAMN-MANY anti-America & pro others Lordly Bureaucrats & Mainstream Press/Media Critters needing removal, here.
